BRÜMILDA VAN RENSBURG

Fans know Brümilda van Rensburg in 44 African countries for her role as Louwna Vorster on M-Net's popular soap Egoli, in which she has starred for over ten years. Brümilda graduated cum laude with a BA Honors degree in Drama and won a student award twice for her achievements in the dramatic arts at university. At school she was the first pupil ever to be awarded school colours for acting. Upon graduating Brümilda worked with CAPAB for three years and won a prestigious Fleur du Cap award for her role as Cassandra in The Orestian Trilogy.
Her husky voice, faultless frame and sultry looks, make Brümilda the ideal "femme fatale" yet she has proven herself equally capable of playing more understated roles. In the Binnekring, her role as a political journalist earned her an Artes nomination and another role on the second series. Brümilda's interpretation of the bitchy Adele in the TV series Wolwedans in die Skemer made her a household name to South African viewers. She won a Dalro award for her performance in Antigone.
Brümilda acted in two features Dancing in the Forest and Brutal Glory, both released at the Cannes Film Festival and in 2000 played the lead in Om Goodbye te Sê in London, to standing ovations. She won a Vita Award for her role in Exit the King and has been nominated twice by the public as the most popular South African Female Actress. She teaches drama, is a motivational speaker, holds women's workshops, has brought out her own skincare range African Secret and is a Master of Ceremonies. Brümilda has compered fashion shows, the Miss South Africa and Miss Namibia award ceremonies, the Sanlam and Old Mutual Achievers Awards. She won a Loerie Award for her work as a voice artist. She hosted her own radio talk show on Punt radio, has directed television inserts and documentaries for the SABC and has produced plays for arts festivals. Not surprisingly in 2000, Brümilda received the Realnet Reach for the Stars Achievers Award.
