CHARL VAN
HEYNINGEN
The exquisitely talented Charl van Heyningen has performed several lead roles as
a lyric baritone and in 1992 he performed in his first play, A Touch of Webber,
a Taste of Rice. His debut album, Maskers, recorded in 1998, received a South
African Music Awards nomination for Best Male Artist. His second album, Life is
Beautiful / La Vita Bella, released in June 2001, was nominated for two Geraas
Music Awards. Songs from the album have had extensive airplay on various radio
station and have been featured on television numerous times.
Charl's recent endeavors include his critically acclaimed first solo cabaret All
for Love, the enormously successful Who Stole The Orchestra in which he
collaborates with Karen Meiring and Bondina Osterhof (of Cutt Glass) as well as
Rory Rootenberg, and his latest stage show Life is Beautiful.
Charl and well-known South-African singer Manuel Escorcio have joined forces for
the show, Partners of Note/ Nootvennote, as well as a CD of the same name.
