JENNIFER JONES
Female vocalist Jennifer Jones grew up in the Cape Flats where she was active in
the gospel scene. After her matriculation Jennifer extended her musical range
and ability, establishing herself as one of the leading female R&B, soul and
jazz vocalists. The Jennifer Jones Band took Cape Town audiences by storm and
lead to her later collaboration with ex-Blood, Sweat & Tears trumpeter Bruce
Cassidy on various recording projects.
As an up-and-coming talent, Jennifer continued to impress audiences and in 1992,
she performed with local group No Strings Attached, with Tandie Klaasen at the
Nico Theatre, at the Free Peoples Jazz Concert at the V&A Waterfront, and in the
Night of 100 Stars at the Nico Opera House. Jennifer appeared with Duran Duran,
Dr Alban and completed recording projects with Black Noise and Jonathan Selby.
She performed at the opening of the Rugby World Cup in 1995
