Rory started his professional singing career in 1989 in one of the national
South African touring productions of Joseph and the amazing Technicolour
Dreamcoat. He went on to entertain audiences with many diverse roles in
musicals, pantomime, children's theatre and cabaret. Highlights of these shows
include Crazy for You, Fiddler on the Roof, Me and my Girl and Six of the Best.
1993 saw Rory receiving a scholarship to participate in the Brevard Music
Festival in the United States, where he sang in La Boheme, Pirates of Penzance
and My Fair Lady.
As an ex Drakensberg Boys' Choir singer he went on to study with the renowned
baritone Professor Werner Nel, and then in 1996 teamed up with the inimitable
Ian von Memerty to create the highly acclaimed, riotous "Cadenza!", "Cadenza X-Trav!"
and "Reflections". These shows have become standing room only hits at every
major festival, playing to captivated and capacity audiences around the country,
as well as Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe, and have earned him lavish praise
from a bemused and delighted press.
Over 500 performances, 7 Vita awards and two compact discs later and the public
are still having Cadenza's !
